We want to get all plastic out of healthcare. Who will help us?
Background
As cardiologists and catheterization lab technicians, we save hundreds of lives each year and make life liveable again for people with heart conditions. However, to achieve this, we use many products that must comply with strict rules. One of the rules is that all the products need to be packaged, in plastic. While on the one hand we save human lives, on the other hand, through our plastic consumption, we ensure that the earth is becoming increasingly ill.
Why does hartplastic exist?
With our organisation “hartplastic” we want to contribute to a healthy world, by working towards a circular economy in healthcare.
What do we want to achieve?
We want to motivate as many hospitals and companies in the medical sector in the Netherlands as possible to participate in our initiative to reuse or reduce plastic. We also want to make our environment aware of our initiative so that we as healthcare professionals start dealing more efficiently with our raw materials and burden the environment as little as possible.
